Hoover Dam(mit)

So I have a fear of heights. A really big one. I somewhat conquered this particular fear (don't get me started on my fear of unfinished basements) when I took a snowboarding class my freshman year and had to ride chair lifts. My friend Mike can attest to the fact that I was freaked out- I clung to him on every ride.

This is going to be an issue. Jon and I want to try out for the Amazing Race. We plan on playing up the "young family/Christian/homeschooling/chicken-owning/super hip :)" bit and see where it gets us. We've had offers from friends to watch our kids for the 3 week stint and don't think I'm not going to take them up on that. BUT I know there is going to be some major event with heights and I've already told Jon what he needs to say in my pep talk. "You're not going to die and this could actually be fun". It might all work as long as there isn't a Detour or Roadblock that involves this bridge...We can kiss the million dollars goodbye.

Oh, you sooo have that quirky/hip angle covered. And the religion bit? You know how the media loves us "peculiar people". Don't you dare let any of us miss it - I'd root for you weekly.

Conquer your fears head-on! That would be so cool if you were on that show....I would actually watch it. I've only seen one or two episodes. Keep us posted. How is your fear of eating bugs or worms? Or am I thinking of another show?

I actually enjoy heights, but there's something about the Hoover Dam that gets to me. I get the same feeling when I look at it that I get when I see barges, cruise ships, and boats out of water. That being said, the only time that I've been there, I got in trouble by the ranger for sitting on the ledge with my feet dangling down. I could look down, but I couldn't look at that big concrete dam. Something about it is all wrong...
