My "Did" List

I read on a blog one day that it's nice to write down what was accomplished in a day, instead of anguishing over what wasn't crossed off the to-do list. I have been having a few weeks of crazy and feel like I'm so busy that I'm missing out on the lazy days of summer. I haven't had a day in WEEKS where I've had nothing to do and that is not what summer is about! I keep telling myself that when we get the yard done I can rest easy. I simply want lovely green grass for my kids to play in, is that too much to ask?

So here goes. A day in the life of a crazy lady.

1. Wake up at 5am, convince myself that "yes I can go back to sleep". It actually works and I wake up at 8!
2. Make the kids a lame breakfast (cereal, bagels).
3. Beg the kids to get along so Noah doesn't have one of his crying jags while I'm outside...
4. Transfer 30 wheelbarrows full of compost to the backyard to prep the dirt for sod. Pooped.
5. Shower.
6. Run to Coscto to grab a present for a birthday party. Pick a present that is too big to fit in the gift bag I put in the car- find something smaller.
7. Feed the kids (and me!) a ghetto lunch in the food court.
8. Wrap the present in the car.
9. Race to pick up Ella's friend and drive them to a birthday party. I'm late because I can't seem to be on time for anything lately.
10. Drop off girls, take boys home and let them finish Star Wars 5.
11. Rake out compost all over yard, let chickens out, transfer 500 million rocks from one spot in our yard to line the bottom of our garden boxes. 10 or so wheelbarrows full of rocks. Pooped again.
12. Make dinner.
13. Wipe dirt off my face and arms ( the spots that show in my scrubs!) and get ready for work.
14. Race to work and pull up at 5pm sharp. Nice.
15. Work a 3 hour shift, come home, grab a snack (carrots and hummus never tasted so good), check my favorite blogs and write this post so I can feel accomplished.
16. Feel ashamed that I haven't done anything fun with the kids but try and reflect on super fun vacay to Canada and hope they remember that instead of me covered in dirt, always working in the yard!

Time to hit the sack!

The yard will truly be "yours" when you're finished and don't worry, a nice rest is ahead . . . . when you're stretched out on a comfy lounge chair in the backyard watching the kids grow.

You go girl! Bet you slept real good that night. Must have been all that fresh Canadian air that got you going! Ha ha.
