Makeover #2

In the two short years we've lived here I've already re-painted 4 rooms. Ella's room started off magenta, the boys' room was a beautiful blue but a little PBish for my taste and the upstairs bath was an old school green. The basement was painted an off-white which was fine until I discovered THE white. The absolutely perfect white- it's warm without being yellow and shows off art and light like you wouldn't believe. It's a Benjamin Moore color called Mountain Peak White but I have Sherwin Williams color match it because I love their paint, customer service (they know me by name) and I have an account there so I get a discount. I've painted all of the above said rooms in this white color and feel so much better.

The hall bath really needed a facelift and will still have a few changes made (a new mirror and light fixture) but it's come a long way from it's original circumstances. I purchased a new shower curtain from Habitat in France. So glad I did. Their curtains are longer so I could put the rod higher and create an illusion of space. It's hard to see but the pattern is tiny polkadots and I love how much lighter the bath is because of the light streaming through the curtain from the window. Add some etsy art (persimmon and pink and printspace) and some lovely photos by Leah and we're all set. I actually leave the bathroom door open now just so I can walk by and admire the peacefullness of it all. While it lasts anyways. Any tips on having 3 teenagers sharing a bathroom someday?

Darling Cher! I am so glad you mentioned this white. As we've been planning our house, it's going to be very "white" and I'm happy to hear what the perfect shade is!

This is so calm and soothing. No tips on sharing, here. My poor kids (who let me clarify, will be HUGE, since husband is 6'5 and I'm 5'11) have to share the world's tiniest shower downstairs and a slightly larger bathroom up - and that one they have to share with us. Ah, old home living...

I'm considering painting over all the "colors" I loved years ago with white also. Great color tip. Question: DO you have a fan in your bathroom? Our small one has a window, but no fan, and we get mold. Do you put that mold resistant stuff in the paint?

Amanda, I didn't put the mold stuff in the paint because I just barely heard about it! We don't have fans in the upstairs bathrooms but they both had windows. The kids still take baths (is that weird? I can't get them to take showers...) so it doesn't get too steamy in there. If it does I just crack a window. So far so good. If you have a problem with mold then I think it's worth investing in the mold stuff for paint and checking into getting a fan. Our electrician said it wouldn't be a big deal to put one in, we just haven't needed it...

Sorry, that was a long answer to your question!

Which store do you buy your paint at? I am looking at potential investments and want to buy it.
