Guest Blog: Acorn School

I took the three kids to Wenatchee last weekend so Cher could have the weekend with her good friend from Baltimore, Julie Speetjens. We stayed at Grandpa and Grandma Merrill's rather than mom and dad's place so the cousins could all play together (Tom, Beth and kids are house sitting while their new house gets ready). There is a park next door, where the kids gathered together hundreds of acorns in plastic bags. They brought them back to the house, and after a few hours of hearing nothing out of the basement, I went down to check on them. They had set up an acorn school, complete with names written on post-it desks and a sign for the teacher. Ella told me, "The boy acorns still have their hats on. The girl acorns don't have hats on." What imaginations!

Acorn school sounds a little "nutty" but very creative!
