Outdoor Wishlist Item #2

The backyard is slowly coming together. We are hoping to have the entire yard clear of salal by the end of the summer. We have to rent a heavy duty rototiller to finish the job and then we'll be ready to make a bunch of these. And I mean a bunch. I'm shooting for 6-8 raised beds- one for strawberries, one for blueberries, one for raspberries, one for corn (does corn grow in Seattle?), and so on. I've got big plans people. They won't be done in time to plant anything this year but just you wait, I'll be farming like crazy next season!

My family in Seattle grows tons and tons of asparagus. FYI

Yep, we started a garden this year and it's exhilarating. I check it daily and suddenly last week it just exploded in growth. Raised beds are lovely; you're becoming a little commune, my dear! The chickens, the garden, home school - all you need is a loom to spin your own thread and you'll be your own little utopian community.

Can I come live with you?

I love my raised garden beds. I just picked up some strawberries to plant yesterday. You will love your garden next year. 6-8 beds will grow a lot!

I'm jealous. seriously. we have a big balcony/small deck at our condo where we are growing 9 dahlias and 2 grape tomato plants. that's it. sounds pitiful compared to your big plans! awesome. I like what you're wanting to grow, too. yum.
