Olympic Peninsula

We took a little family "vacay" (I just really like that word, so sweet valley high) to the Olympic Peninsula last weekend.  In all of our two years here we had never been over there, only seen the Olympic Mountains from our favorite beaches.

We took two ferries over (the Hood Canal Bridge was closed) and spent some time at a park while Boo visited one of his clients.  We then stayed at a B&B in Forks, WA (Twilight post to come) and continued our drive around the entire peninsula.  The kids were troopers AND they came back with a renewed sense of sibling-hood.  They have played SO WELL since we've been home, I think they just needed to get away.  Kind of like grown-ups, no?  Sometimes we need a vacation so we can remember how to "play well with others".

The Hall of Mosses hike. We were supposedly going to see 25 elk (according to some hikers) but they must have scared them off. We saw lots of elk poo and tracks. That's about it. Lovely hike though.

Remind me to find a rain jacket that doesn't make me look like a linebacker.

These are pictures from the lovely park we played at while Boo was with his clients. Everything was in bloom and we even got tipped off to some baby ducklings that the kids proceeded to terrorize for the next half hour. They felt they were experienced enough with the baby chickens that they should be able to hold the baby ducks. Their mamas (me and the duck) weren't having any of that...

I know all about Jon and hikes. I hope he's improved his tree hugging skeelz since Hawaii.

I am glad the vampires didn't catch your scent while walking through the woods. So pretty!

I love seeing these pictures...make 'em bigger though so I can see all the "deets". Hey, you said "vacay" so I figured I could throw in a few myself...
