Attention! No Young Readers Allowed!!

E. pulled her tooth out at school TWO days ago and TWO days in a row the Tooth Fairy has forgotten to do the switcheroo.  Oops.  I told E. to write a note to the Tooth Fairy and ask her what's up?  She wrote "Dear Tooth Fairy,  Why are you not coming to me?  Write me back.  Ella"  Ouch!  So while E.  was at school today the Fairy visited her and left her a "sorry" note.  She came into the kitchen after she found the loot and asked if I was the Tooth Fairy.  E. recognized my handwriting even though I tried to disguise it.  I gave in and said that we left her the money.  Then she asked what we did with the teeth and I told her we threw them away which did not make her happy!  I told her we had to get rid of the evidence and THEN she remembered a long time ago when she lost her first tooth and I kept it for sentimental reasons (gross I know) and she found it by going through my personal stuff.  I had to perpetuate the lie by saying it was my tooth and the TF had forgotten it when I was little.  Not my best moment for sure.

I am relieved the farce is over.  We can cross the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy off the list, who do you think is next (my mother-in-law will be so disappointed!)?

PS  Will was OF COURSE standing right by E. so he is in on the farce as well.  My, they are growing up fast!

Do I admit that I still have some of my teeth from way back when? My kids have theirs and find them so interesting. It's not too late to start saving them.

Hey, I'm not disappointed because the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, and Santa still come to our house.
