In a fit of organization (or in other words what I like to call an "organasm") the other night I focused on two drawers in kitchen that needed some extra love. How is it that when we put away clean silverware there are crumbs in that drawer? How do they get there? WHY are they there every time I try and pull out a knife or spoon, mocking me, telling me in no uncertain terms that I am not a good housekeeper?
I had to put them in their place. I cleaned out the silverware drawer and the baking/cooking odds and ends drawer and then put the finishing touch in them: cork lining. I bought a roll a really long time ago when I worked at Williams-Sonoma (back when I used to get paid and then turn around and spend double in the store. my kitchen is pimped out though) and had never used it until this house. I have it in my cupboards, in my husband's toiletries drawer and now in these drawers. I'm almost out and I think I need more.
Now I feel happy when I open the drawers, ready to whip up any culinary delight I can possibly think of. Usually something starchy and sugary.

Oh, I love that, I just bought some new stuff for the inside of my drawers that house the very same items. I got a wood,(bamboo)silverware holder that expands to fit into my drawer. I really like it, but I also like the look of that cork.
I love how organized these are and the cork lining is a great idea!
You. Rock.
I will now forever call my cleaning spasms "organasms". I think those are my favorite kind...
I love your kitchen, and if it doesn't sound to stalker-y, I clicked on one of your pics once to see the close-up and I've coveted your paper towel holder ever since. I think it's just clear plexi or something, but it looked like it was hanging from your cupboards. We have a tiny kitchen and I've wanted something with clean lines just like it.
Do tell!
Amanda, Aren't you getting ready for NYC? You lucky gal, that's one of the biggest things I miss about living on the east coast.
The paper towel holder is from the Container Store. I think! I bought it a long time ago, I think when we lived in baltimore. Look under lucite or acrylic paper towel holder and you should find something similar. Best PT holder I've seen, hate the counter ones because I have no counter space!
Good luck!
I get the crumbs too...drives me crazy! I love having "organasm"...I have some projects on my list of things to do that will surely let me have multiples:)
Time for another organasm trip to California!!!! My drawers don't look THAT good! ;-)
So pretty...
I saw this awhile back (and commented) but I must tell you again I seriously covet your drawers. Would you do that to mine while I'm gone? :)
