When the pilgrims came to this country so long ago and barely survived the first New England winter on 5 kernels of dried corn a day the story goes that no one complained of hunger. They sang together and read from the Bible to sustain them through such difficulties. In remembrance of that I want to give thanks for 5 blessings (but there are so many more!). What are you thankful for?
1. My parents. On a few Thanksgiving holidays growing up we put our turkey in the oven and headed to a soup kitchen in downtown Akron to serve a holiday meal to the homeless. I obviously have had many a Thanksgivings already but those were the ones that I remember. Thank you mom and dad for encouraging us to do service and think of others. I hope to continue this tradition when my kids are old enough to not run off with a homeless person. Noah feels no "stranger danger" yet...
2. My hubby and kiddies. My husband is hot, puts the kids to bed, does dishes, knows just where to rub the knots out in my back and makes me laugh. Nuff said. My kids are darling, empty the dishwasher, draw me pictures that say "you're the best teacher mommy there is" and make me laugh. Nuff said about them too.
3. The Gospel of Jesus Christ (I'm "gettin' my God on" as my friend Julie says). I'm thankful that I have the best example in how to live my life and that when I don't always measure up I have the privilege to make it all right through Him.
4. My house. I love where I live. I love my neighbors, I love that I can walk to the grocery store, dentist, pediatrician, drugstore, baskin robbins (!), etc. I'm really glad we moved here.
5. My friends and my sistas. You know who you are and you rock my world. Smooches...
Peace Out.

I'm thankful to you, too, Charlie Brown! Thanks for sharing the good memory, and for always remembering the good stuff! We did that with Cindy K., too, I think. XO
I also meant "I'm thankful FOR you." ;-)
