My lovely, wonderful, fabulous BF from high school came to visit last weekend and with her came good luck! We had GORGEOUS weather for the two days she was here and it couldn't have been more perfect. She arrived on Friday afternoon and Noah and I picked her up at the airport, grabbed some Cupcake Royale (she said the way I blog about them it sounds like I'm there every week. I'm not, only once a month okay?!!!) and headed to the Ballard Locks. We saw some huge boats go through. I am like a kid with that stuff, I think it's pretty cool! Krista loved the Red Velvet cupcake and I had the Lavendar chocolate cupcake. Yum!
We headed home for a house tour before the kids arrived from school. The kids haven't seen her for a few years but when Ella got off the the bus she looked at Krista and said "you cut your hair!" which she had and it looks gorgeous. Ella also said "you know how I recognized you? Because of your smile". Krista also has a gorgeous smile.
We chilled with the fam that night and the next morning, after much delay (!) we headed to Whidbey Island. We took the long way, as in we drove all the way to Anacordes and then down to Langley but once we got on the Island it was a gorgeous drive. We stopped at Deception Pass and hiked down to the beach. WOW. On to Coupeville for lunch at a darling place called Knead and Feed. It was a total dive on the inside but packed so we thought it would be good and it was! We ate yummy sandwiches while looking out on the water.
Back in the car we headed to Langley to look around. We ended up grabbing some tea and sitting on a bench talking for a long time. we had dinner at a place recommended in Sunset Magazine called the Fish Bowl where Krista got a kick out of seeing me crack my first crab leg. Not very graceful for sure! We talked and talked and talked some more and it was like we hadn't skipped a beat even though we only see each other once a year if we're lucky.
Thank you thank you thank you Krista for coming out here! She is so crazy busy working full time at a bank and going to school full time at night to become a teacher and I'm so proud of her and grateful that she carved out a little time for me!
